Matlock Bath Illuminations 2024
Matlock Bath Illuminations is a popular family event featuring a dazzling parade of illuminated and creatively decorated boats on the River Derwent. The 2024 season kicks off on September 7th and continues every Saturday and Sunday night until October 27th.
Throughout the 7-week celebration, members of the Matlock Bath Venetian Boat Builders' Association craft themed models adorned with vibrant lights. These models are mounted on rowing boats and showcased on the River Derwent each Saturday (starting around 7:45 pm in September and 7:00 pm in October) and Sunday (beginning at approximately 7:30 pm in September and 7:00 pm in October) in Derwent Gardens, offering a unique and mesmerising display.
Every Saturday in October, as well as the final night on Sunday, October 27th, features a spectacular firework display. The skies over Matlock Bath will burst into a kaleidoscope of colors, with fireworks beginning at 8:30 pm.
Both Saturdays and Sundays boast themed nights with entertainment, including stilt walkers and the stunning parade of boats on the River Derwent. Sundays are designated "family nights," with activities running from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, perfect for younger visitors who have school the next day.
Oker Farm is the perfect place to spend the weekend if you are planning on visiting the illuminations. Only a 10 minute drive from the property to Matlock Bath, the farm is in the ideal location to enjoy the family event!
